Presenters: Design Chain Associates Mike Kirschner, President Mike Kirschner has over 25 years of extensive cross-functional experience in all phases of the product lifecycle, from conception through production and end-of-life at both electronics OEMs and semiconductor manufacturers. He has been President and Managing Partner of Design Chain Associates, LLC since its inception in 2001 and is an internationally recognized expert in the analysis and impact of environmental regulation on electronic products, and is a highly sought after speaker and author. He contributed two chapters to the "Governance, Risk, and Compliance Handbook," published by Wiley in 2008 and is featured in the critically acclaimed book "Exposed: The Toxic Chemistry of Everyday Products and What's at Stake for American Power." Prior to founding DCA Mike held Engineering and Engineering Management positions at Compaq, Tandem, Intel, and Intergraph, as well as at several start-ups in Component Engineering, Reliability, Quality Assurance, Software Development, and Product Design roles. Mike received his BSEE from
Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester,
MA and is a member of the IEEE,
ASTM F40,
the EPEAT
development team and the U.S.
National Committee Technical Advisory Group
for IEC
TC108. He was recently appointed to the
California Department of Toxic Substance
Control's Green
Ribbon Science Panel. Mike is also
Associate Director of the Green
Science Policy Institute. |

Tom Valliere, Senior Vice President Tom Valliere combines over 14 years of supply chain management at Compaq and Hewlett Packard with an extensive engineering background. While at Compaq, Tom managed worldwide corporate procurement for all PCA-mounted components excluding ASICs and DRAMs. Tom’s team included purchasing professionals and engineering resources located in Singapore, Houston and Boston. In the aggregate he was responsible for an annual spend in excess of US $1B, a line item count of several thousand parts and more than 100 suppliers. In his career, Tom has worked
in semiconductor and circuit hardware design,
component engineering, reliability engineering,
and standards development. Tom has been very
involved in merging corporate acquisitions and
dealing with data integration issues such as
dissimilar numbering and configuration systems.
He has driven the implementation of several ERP
systems, including ASK MANMAN, MAPICS, AMAPS
and SAP. Clients and past employers include
Compaq, Square D Company, NCR, Motorola, ITT,
and Honeywell. Tom received an honorable
discharge after four years of service with the
Army Security Agency in Southeast Asia and
received his BSEE from the University of Miami.

Ken Stanvick, Senior Vice President Ken Stanvick has over 25 years of hands on experience in the High Tech Electronics Industry. His responsibilities have spanned the roles of individual contributor, group manager, and independent strategic advisor to executive management. Prior to founding DCA, he held various individual contributor and management positions at Digital Equipment Corporation, Compaq Computer, HP, Raytheon, and AT&T. He has extensive best practice expertise in all aspects of design, supplier technical and business management, manufacturing, test, quality and reliability engineering, ISO9001 and the impact of product targeted global environmental regulations. Ken is recognized as an
industry expert for global environmental
regulations that impact the electronics
industry including RoHS, WEEE, battery
regulations, CE Marking, EnergyStar®, and
Greenhouse gas accounting and reporting. He has
spoken at many leading electronics industry
events and has conducted seminars and training
workshops in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Ken
is currently a technical working group member
of the World Business Council for Sustainable
Development and World Resource Institute, which
is developing the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Product
and Supply Chain accounting and reporting
standard. |
