Department of Energy (DOE)
The National Appliance Energy Conservation Act (NAECA) requires DOE to consider revisions to existing appliance minimum energy efficiency standards, and as a result of litigation and congressional interest DOE has embarked on a series of rulemakings over the next six years. It is currently engaged in rulemakings on several home appliance products, including dishwashers, cooking products (ovens, ranges and microwaves), dehumidifiers and commercial clothes washers. In 2009, DOE will engage in rulemakings on room air conditioners and clothes dryers.
