AHAM Programs

AHAM Verification Programs have been an important part of AHAM services since the Association’s inception.  Verified appliances carry an AHAM Mark on the unit or its packaging.  This Mark assures consumers, retailers and other interested parties that a product may be selected at any time for verification testing, and that the product’s energy consumption rating is consistent with the energy consumption measured against standard test methods.  The Programs provide a uniform and commercially practical verification of certain performance criteria for each product.  An independent laboratory under contract to AHAM performs the verification testing based on a specified test procedure.

Please note that all decisions related to this and other AHAM Verification Programs, including fees, are made by AHAM’s Major Appliance Engineering Council and Major Appliance Division Board of Directors.

Participation in AHAM Verification Programs is voluntary and independent of AHAM membership.  All manufacturers who distribute goods in the United States and/or Canada may participate in the verification programs, whether or not they are AHAM members.

Each manufacturer submits its certified values to the third party testing laboratory for incorporation into a directory of certified products.  Manufacturers, distributors, buyers, sales people, consumers, utility companies, consultants, researchers and others use these directories.  Searchable, online versions of these directories are continuously maintained and kept up-to-date.
