The European Union’s Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is a producer responsibility law that requires manufacturers of electronic and appliance products to manage the proper disposal and recycling of products at the end of their useful life. The European Union’s Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is a producer responsibility law that requires manufacturers of electronic and appliance products to manage the proper disposal and recycling of products at the end of their useful life. The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive restricts the use of six particular substances within electrical and electronic equipment, and it is likely that the number of restricted substances will grow. Both regulations have undergone or are undergoing recasts and updates that will likely affect member companies doing business in the EU.
