HOT ISSUES
Public
policies in the form of laws and regulations,
whether in effect or in the proposal stage, can
significantly impact the design and manufacture
of home appliances. Energy,
environmental, safety, trade and other public
policy issues are monitored closely by AHAM
staff in the legislative, and regulatory level
in the state, federal and international arenas
for any impact on the membership and its
customers. Members benefit from AHAM's
access, intelligence, analysis and advocacy on
a wide range of public policy issues.
AHAM also provides a lawful forum for members
to discuss such issues and respond with
responsible policy positions. AHAM policy
priorities are developed by its membership
divisions through government relations councils
and task forces. Frequently, AHAM
testifies before Congress and other
governmental bodies, lobbies on behalf of the
membership and coordinates member company
advocacy through a grassroots legislative
network.
AHAM Government Relations priorities and positions are determined by each division's Government Relations Council (GRC).
