CSA Standards

  • C-300 (Refrigerators)
  • The Canadian Standards Association is revising its performance test procedures (CSA Standard C-300) to keep harmonized with the U.S. Department of Energy.  CSA also intends to incorporate a method of test for wine chillers, consistent with AHAM’s HRF-1 test procedure and the California Energy Commission efficiency levels.  Once the test procedure is finalized, NRCan intends to adopt the minimum efficiency level for wine chillers. AHAM staff and members are participating in the effort.

  • C-370 (Portable Air Conditioners)
  • AHAM is working with Canadian Standards Association to co-develop a joint standard for the performance testing of portable air conditioners to measure energy efficiency.  The document has been under review by the joint AHAM-CSA working group and it is expected that the draft document will be circulated for CSA public review in the 3rd quarter 2007.  AHAM will solicit comments on the CSA draft from the AHAM Portable Air Conditioner Specialists and return the comments to CSA for consideration.  Once the standard is published as a CSA technical standard, AHAM will initiate the AHAM technical standard approval process.  AHAM will initiate a certification program based on the standard once it is available as an AHAM standard.  Manufacturers interested in participating in this effort should contact Jennifer Moyer of AHAM staff.
