State Issues

Many state legislatures have started their 2012 sessions once again considering bills (both positive and negative) in a number of issue areas important to AHAM members and products. Issues [tk-seeing] the most legislation are those proposing changes to state-specific energy efficiency standards, restrictions on the use of certain material substances in appliance design and use, and mandating extended producer responsibility for their products when they reach the end of their useful lives. AHAM follows these issues for the home appliance industry, and has already begun advocating before state legislatures and executive agencies on these issues:

Chemical Bans and Green Chemistry
Climate Change and Greenhouse Gas
Electronic Waste, Recycling and Extended Producer Responsibility
Energy Efficiency Standards
Product Recalls and Safety Legislation
State Legislation Updates
Tax Incentives and Warranty Legislation
