WASHINGTON, DC (May 1, 2019) —  The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers honored home appliance industry professionals for exceptional contributions to the industry during AHAM’s 2019 Annual Member Meeting, Know the Score, April 27-30 in Washington, D.C.

Melanie Cook, Chief Operating Officer, GE Appliances, a Haier company, received the Home Appliance Industry Leadership Award. Since 1994, the Home Appliance Industry Leadership Award has recognized exceptional service by AHAM members. It is the premier achievement bestowed by AHAM upon a member.

Cook, who sits on AHAM’s Board of Directors as Immediate Past Chair, has served in multiple AHAM leadership positions, including AHAM Board Chair, and has led many AHAM committees, including the Executive Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Revenue Task Force. 

AHAM presented the Liston Durden Gordon Stauffer Distinguished Service Award to John Archer, Compliance Officer, MC Commercial, and Randy Hoover, Senior Certification Engineer, Electrolux North America, for their outstanding contributions to advances in product safety, performance and energy efficiency in the U.S. and Canada. 

AHAM presented the Michael C. Thompson Public Policy Award to Michael Del Negro, Managing Counsel, Product Safety, and Chief Compliance Officer for GE Appliances, a Haier company, for outstanding contributions and participation in the development of AHAM’s strategy and public policy advocacy.

AHAM’s Chairman’s Partnership Award, which recognizes significant contributions to AHAM by non-member organizations, companies or individuals, was presented to Darrin Conlon, Director of Principal Engineers - Appliances, HVACR, and Lighting, UL LLC, and Don Lee, Technical Advisor, CSA Group, in recognition of exceptional service to the industry in the harmonization of U.S. and Canadian safety standards.

Two AHAM members received AHAM’s Emerging Leader Award in recognition of their service and continued industry leadership.  The award recipients are: 
Laura Siegrist, Senior Manager, Government Relations, Whirlpool, for contributions to federal advocacy for the home appliance industry.
Jeff Van Damme, General Counsel, Legal and Regulatory Affairs, Samsung Electronics Canada, Inc., for leadership of AHAM’s Legal Operations Advisory Committee and contributions to public policy in Canada.
